BRAJINA Foundation "Towards a Sustainable Future"
The idea of Brajina Foundation was envisioned by our late father Prof. Dr. Braj Nandan Prasad, a renowned academician and agricultural scientist. Dr. Prasad was awarded with the highest civilian award of Nepal, Suprabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu by late His Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev in the year 2001 for his outstanding contribution in the field of Biotechnology in Nepal. He was also awarded with National Education Award by the Govt. of Nepal along with other numerous National and International Awards/Fellowships.
In the memory of our late father whom we lost recently (8th July, 2017), we are incorporating this Non Profit Organization to fulfill his dream of a sustainable rural societies and communities. Dr. Prasad was a renowned agricultural scientist, an academician, a writer, a mentor and a leader who worked around 4 decades in the areas of Teaching, Research & Development, Administration and Management. He worked closely with laureates and great scientists around the world, to name a few,. Dr. M.S. Swaminathan,Prof. Dr. Dietrich Werner,Prof, & Director Peter M. Gresshoff,Prof. Dr. Michael Göttfert,Dr F.L. Stoddard,Dr. Christopher Q. Lan,Prof Dame Joan K. Stringer DBE and more eminent scientists. He successfully completed numerous national and international research projects including, GTZ/Germany, European Commission, Brussels, Belgium, TWAS/Trieste, Italy, and WWF/USA. He guided many Ph.D., M.Sc. and M. Tech. (Biotechnology) students in completing their degrees and at present many of his students are carrying out their research projects throughout the world. He visited various countries as a visiting scientist to work on specific projects and to attend scientific meetings viz. Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, China, Hong-Kong, USA, UK, Japan, The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, Chile, Spain. He had a vision of educating and empowering youth. The strength of this organization is to educate, train and mobilize volunteers who can contribute to a larger social, economical and environmental change in the rural lives.
Brajina Foundation, is registered under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. It is incorporated solely for working towards a ‘Sustainable Development’ of rural societies and communities and aim to achieve ‘Sustainable Rural Livelihoods’. We are committed to make a difference in growth and livelihood transformation of rural people and help them to sustain and grow economically, socially and environmentally by educating, training and mobilizing youth with the help of modern technology.
The aim of this program is to bring youth leadership through internships,exposure programs, and campaigns as well as by providing opportunities to initiate, innovative activities. This program aims at networking and forming groups where young people become change agents in society.
The purpose of this program is to improve education situation of poor and marginalised children in govt schools both in the urban and rural areas.
The purpose of this program is to enhance skills of young people- especially that they become productive human resource of society.
Women Empowerment refers to increasing and improving the social, economic, political and legal strength of the women, to ensure equal-right to women, and to make them confident enough to claim their rights.
